Base Aircraft Maint Manager

SUMMARY 

Responsible for managing the station aircraft maintenance program in a manner which ensures the timely availability of aircraft, maintained to company standards in a cost-effective manner.  Reports to Regional Maintenance Manager. 

 

DUTIES (include but are not limited to)

Provides leadership, development and motivation to the supervisors, leads and mechanics assigned. Accomplishes required maintenance on company aircraft meeting quality standards, efficiency, time and cost goals. Ensures that station maintenance facilities, equipment and reference material are kept in current, serviceable, safe, clean, and orderly condition. Controls and coordinates all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities. Maintains proficiency with FAA regulations, company and manufacturer’s manuals, polices and procedures associated with activities at the station. Ensures that company and FAR record keeping requirements are in compliance. Plans for the performance of scheduled and non- scheduled maintenance. Performs many of the same activities as the workers supervised. Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Ameriflight policies and applicable laws.   Assumes responsibility for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this unit including payroll and staffing as assigned by the DOM.  Manages Shift Supervisors, Lead Mechanics and/or Maintenance Technicians at assigned base. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; evaluating, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Communicates with the appropriate Operations or Division personnel in matters relating to Operations Department responsibilities such as: overall coordination of station activities; provision of adequate hangar; shop, office, storage facilities; provision of utilities, communications equipment, base vehicles; dispatch functions such as the assignment of aircraft to runs and the determining of contingency courses of action; Line Service functions such as aircraft fueling, loading, cleaning, and towing, de-icing, vehicle maintenance; marketing, customer liaison.  Liaisons regarding environmental impact and airport agencies. Communicates with Flight Department personnel in matters relating to station aircraft condition and performance by the consistent use of briefing and de-briefing sessions.

 

EXPERIENCE

5 or more years experience with our fleet types and/or training. Experience within a fast-paced maintenance operation. Experience with troubleshooting airframe and powerplant.

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Must hold a valid FAA mechanic’s certification with Airframe & Powerplant ratings. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to prove right to work in US. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand others and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating manuals . Ability to communicate and speak effectively with other employees. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Basic math skills. Ability to work various shifts. Positive disposition, professional attitude, professional appearance. Ability to gain airport access badge. Successful completion of pre-employment required DOT drug screening and other required background checks.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to travel. Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds  . Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to read labels, distance vision to see what aircraft is arriving, color vision to see color coded labels, peripheral vision to watch for activity going on around them, depth perception when marshalling and towing aircraft, and the ability to adjust focus when writing. Ability to perform repetitive tasks. Ameriflight requires a pre-employment drug screen for all safety sensitive positions.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Willing and able to travel to recover aircraft, work with other bases, and/or meet training needs of the company. Ability to work outdoors, in weather as necessary. Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and aircraft. Ability to work in a potentially noisy work environment.
